Author of “Food from an Irish Garden”, wife and mother of four, Fiona Dillon is a food writer, blogger and broadcaster.  Her latest project is a series of food adventure books for children.  The Freddy Buttons series is now available online, in shops nationwide and through Glenisk promotional yogurt packs.  Freddy Buttons was recently launched at Bloom 2015 with a show garden that won Fiona a silver medal.  Not bad considering that it’s not that long ago that she wouldn’t have known one end of a carrot from the other!

Passionate about getting back to basics Fiona writes in the Farmers Journal’s “Irish Country” magazine and the UK’s “Home Farmer”.

She started blogging in 2010 at www.hunterslodgeliving.com and her blog was a 2012 and 2013 Irish Blog Awards finalist.  FionaDillon.com was a finalist in five categories in the 2014 Irish Blog Awards.

Whether it’s community radio or TodayFM, national or regional papers, Fiona regularly shares her tips about living the good life at Hunters Lodge.  She has featured on Ear to the Ground and RTECountrywide, and her daughter Ruth presented “The secret life of family pets” on RTE2.

The Agri-Journalism Awards come around every two years and in 2012 Fiona discovered that her piece on bringing her pigs to the abattoir had earned her a place as a Finalist in the online journalism category.  As somebody with no farming experience, she is particularly proud of this.

FionaDillon.com is about the realities of using your garden to grow food.  You won’t find a showhouse here either.  Fiona might be good at many things, but housekeeping will never be one of them!  She’d much prefer family and friends to arrive in their mucky boots and pile around the kitchen table to eat and chat, than have a neat and orderly home.

Hunters Lodge (4)It’s mayhem, but it’s the good life…!  You’ll find the best of her first blog hunterslodgeliving here and more.

So if you fancy growing your own food, making butter, home-made body scrubs, jams, ice-creams and much much more, hop on board and join in..

Fiona is currently creating a website for children to work alongside her children’s books – here, children will learn, in a fun way, about where their food comes from.  Find out more at www.freddybuttons.com
